The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested a junior assistant and an outsourcing employee of the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation after allegedly catching them accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000 from a complainant, according to the ACB. The alleged payment was sought for processing service-related records needed to sanction the complainant’s mother’s monthly pension.
The arrested employees were identified as Palda Ashok, a junior assistant working with the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation, and K Kiran Kumar, an outsourcing employee. The ACB action took place at Padmashali Sangam in Seetharamnagar Colony in Nizamabad Town, where the officials allegedly demanded and accepted the money.
According to the ACB, the amount was demanded to prepare increment proceedings and make the necessary entries and other details in the complainant’s mother’s service book. These records were required for the sanctioning of her monthly pension.
The bureau said its sleuths caught the two employees red-handed after the alleged acceptance of the money. The ACB described the payment as an “undue advantage” and said the arrested persons had performed their public duties dishonestly and improperly.
The case places a routine municipal administrative process—the preparation and updating of service records—at the centre of the alleged bribery transaction. Service books contain employment-related details used for processing official benefits, including pension claims. In this case, the ACB said the requested payment was linked to work connected with a pension application.
