NHAI Awards Rs 555 Crore Project to RVNL
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded a significant highway development project worth Rs 554.6 crore to Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL), a prominent Navratna Public Sector Enterprise. This project, part of NHAI’s ongoing efforts to enhance road infrastructure, aims to construct a six-lane, access-controlled corridor connecting Visakhapatnam Port Road. The project will span from Km 0.000 (Sabbavaram bypass of the Anakapalli-Anandapuram corridor) to Km 12.660 (Sheelanagar junction) along National Highway 516C.
The highway will act as a secondary route to the busy NH16, playing a critical role in easing traffic congestion in Andhra Pradesh and improving regional connectivity.
According to NHAI officials, RVNL has been awarded the project under the hybrid annuity mode. The project will be completed within a span of 730 days. Once finished, the elevated corridor is expected to improve both local and long-distance traffic flow while also supporting economic growth in the region.
This project is a part of NHAI’s larger initiative to modernise India’s road network and facilitate smoother transportation, which will help in easing congestion and boosting trade and commerce. The award to RVNL strengthens its position as a key player in India’s infrastructure development sector, particularly in the road construction domain.
NHAI officials expressed confidence that the execution of this project would significantly enhance road safety and efficiency, benefiting both commercial and private traffic. Additionally, the development is expected to attract further investments in the region’s infrastructure.
