NH-44 Crash Near Shamshabad Kills Four After Ganesh Immersion

Four members of a family were killed and their driver was seriously injured after their Innova allegedly rammed into a divider on NH-44 near Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad early on Saturday, September 19, police said.

The family was travelling from Mettugadda Thanda in Nawabpet mandal of Mahabubnagar to Shamshabad after attending a Ganesh immersion event. The crash occurred near the outskirts of Palamakula village during the early hours, according to a report by The Hindu.

The four occupants died at the spot. They were identified as Kethavath Limbya, 54, a businessman; his wife, Kethavath Jamuna, 45; K. Mansingh, 48, a businessman; and Kethavath Vasram, 45, also a businessman.

The driver, Sabavath Ashok, sustained serious injuries and was shifted to a private hospital in Shamshabad for treatment. The vehicle involved was an Innova bearing registration number TS 07 GZ 9333.

Police are investigating the sequence of events that led to the vehicle hitting the divider. The report did not provide further details on the vehicle’s speed, road conditions, visibility or whether any other vehicle was involved.

The crash comes as families and groups return from festival-related gatherings on roads around Hyderabad and its outskirts. The police investigation is expected to establish the circumstances of the collision and the factors that preceded it.
