Nashik Dasara Business Hits Rs 410 Crore as Auto Sales Rise

Nashik’s automobile and real estate sectors generated around Rs 410 crore in business during the Navaratra and Dasara festive period, with vehicle sales rising 18% year-on-year even as drought conditions sharply reduced tractor purchases across the district.

Around 7,000 vehicles were sold in Nashik during the nine-day festive period, according to data provided by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), Maharashtra. The sales included two-wheelers, passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles and tractors.

Two-wheeler sales accounted for approximately 4,500 units valued at Rs 45 crore, while about 2,000 passenger cars were sold for nearly Rs 200 crore. Dealers also recorded sales of around 350 light commercial vehicles worth Rs 28 crore and 149 tractors valued at approximately Rs 12 crore.

Sachin Mahajan, president of FADA Maharashtra, said festive vehicle sales in Nashik district rose around 18% compared with the corresponding Navaratra-Dasara period last year. He said demand for personal mobility remained strong despite the impact of drought on the agricultural economy.

The tractor segment recorded the steepest decline. Sales fell to 149 units from 506 tractors during the corresponding festive period last year, a drop of nearly 70%. The decline was attributed to deficient rainfall, crop losses and financial difficulties among farmers dependent on agriculture.

The contrasting performance across vehicle categories indicates that the festive demand was concentrated in personal and commercial mobility rather than farm equipment. The figures also show how district-level consumer activity can remain strong in some urban-linked sectors while rural income conditions weaken.

Nashik’s residential real estate market also reported strong festive activity. The Nashik chapter of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) said more than 100 residential units worth around Rs 125 crore were booked on Dasara.

The city recorded more than 50 housewarming ceremonies during the day. Gaurav Thakkar, president of CREDAI Nashik, said buyers showed particular interest in ready-to-move-in homes and described the customer response as encouraging.

The combined automobile and real estate figures place festive demand at around Rs 410 crore across the two sectors. The real estate bookings add to the district’s housing-market activity, while the vehicle data provide a category-wise view of household and business purchases during the period.

Thakkar said the sector expected positive momentum to continue until Diwali. FADA’s figures, meanwhile, show that the effect of drought was most visible in tractor demand, while sales of two-wheelers, passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles remained comparatively resilient.
