The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation Standing Committee has approved Rs 37 crore for widening and improving the Nallagandla-ORR radial road, a move expected to reduce the 6-8 km detour currently used by commuters travelling through the damaged stretch near Vattinagulapally.
The road connects Gopanpally flyover directly to the Outer Ring Road service road. According to officials, the link is currently narrow, damaged and covered in gravel, creating difficult driving conditions and contributing to congestion in Nallagandla and nearby residential areas.
The project is expected to benefit daily commuters from Nallagandla, Tellapur, Serilingampally and adjoining colonies. The affected road is also used by IT professionals travelling between residential neighbourhoods and employment areas in Hyderabad’s western growth corridor.
At present, commuters seeking to avoid the narrow stretch are forced to travel an additional 6 to 8 km via Vattinagulapally. The longer route adds to travel distance and traffic pressure on surrounding roads, particularly for residents making regular trips between local colonies, the Gopanpally flyover and the ORR service road.
A senior CMC engineering official told Telangana Today that the corporation will float tenders following the administrative sanction and then take up the road-widening works. The report did not specify the proposed road width, construction schedule, land-acquisition requirements or the expected completion date.
“Once road widening is completed, it will bring much-needed relief to thousands of IT professionals and residents who face daily bumper-to-bumper traffic,” the CMC said, according to the report.
The sanction places the project at the funding and tender-preparation stage. Its impact on traffic will depend on the tendering process, execution of the widening work and the reopening of a direct connection between the Gopanpally flyover and the ORR service road. The next formal step is the floating of tenders by the CMC.
