Mysuru Tourism App Opens Heritage Access to Global Visitors

Mysuru tourism authorities have launched a multilingual progressive web app designed to give visitors easier access to information on the city’s heritage, culture, attractions and tourism services. The mobile-friendly platform, available at www.mysurutourism.in, supports eight foreign languages and is intended to improve accessibility for international travellers, tourism assistant director VM Prabhuswamy said.

The platform brings together information on Mysuru’s heritage landmarks, cultural attractions, nature and wildlife destinations, local experiences, tourist guides and other visitor services. By placing these resources in one digital interface, the tourism department is presenting the web app as a central discovery point for visitors planning or navigating a trip to the city.

Unlike a conventional mobile application, the platform is a progressive web app. It can be accessed through smartphones, tablets and desktop computers without requiring users to download a separate application. This allows visitors to reach the service through a web browser while using different types of devices before or during their visit.

The multilingual design is focused on international travellers, for whom access to reliable destination information can influence how they plan visits and identify attractions and services. The app’s support for eight foreign languages expands the information beyond English and is intended to make Mysuru’s tourism offering more accessible to visitors from overseas markets.

The platform also introduces two tourism mascots, “Ammu” and “Gajju”. According to tourism officials, Ammu gives the portal a cultural and friendly identity, while Gajju has been conceptualised as an intelligent digital guide. The mascots are part of the portal’s effort to create a recognisable digital identity for Mysuru tourism.

Beyond visitor information, the web app is expected to function as a digital discovery channel for local tourist guides, tourism operators and other stakeholders. Officials said the platform would improve their online visibility and connect them with prospective visitors. This gives the portal a role beyond destination promotion by linking the city’s tourism service providers to the same digital interface used by travellers.

The launch places Mysuru’s heritage and visitor economy within a digital access framework, with information on attractions, local experiences and tourism services available through a single web address. The tourism authorities’ next step is to use the platform as an online connection between visitors and the city’s guides, operators and other tourism stakeholders.
