The Mysuru City Corporation will hold a special e-khata drive at its head office on October 28, allowing property owners to submit applications for Rs 175 and receive digitally issued property records by October 31, according to MCC commissioner MK Savitha.
The camp is part of the civic body’s effort to digitise properties within its jurisdiction. Applications submitted during the drive will be processed within three days, the commissioner said. The initiative is intended to make property information easier to access, improve property tax administration and reduce the risk of documentation fraud.
MCC has so far issued e-khatas to nearly 30% of properties under its jurisdiction, about two years after the Karnataka government launched the e-khata initiative. The corporation now aims to bring all 2.3 lakh properties in its limits under the digital system.
Of the total properties, around 60,000 are located in revenue layouts and have not yet been brought into the e-khata system. The civic body’s figures indicate that a large share of property records still remain outside the digital framework, despite the initiative having been operational for about two years.
The e-khata system creates a digital property record for municipal use. For the corporation, completing the process would provide a consolidated database of properties and make information available through its administrative systems. The stated objectives also include strengthening transparency in property records and supporting more efficient property tax collection.
Savitha said applications would be accepted on October 28 and processed within three days. The special camp is intended to help property owners complete the process without the delays or difficulties they may face through routine applications.
The corporation is also considering holding similar drives every Friday, depending on the response to the October 28 camp. Such recurring camps would extend the opportunity beyond the one-day event and support MCC’s stated objective of digitising all properties within its limits.
The drive will be held at the MCC head office. The corporation has directed property owners seeking further details to visit its website at www.mysurucity.mrc.gov.in. The next milestone is the October 28 camp, followed by the promised issuance of e-khatas by October 31 for applications processed during the drive.
