Mumbai’s urban logistics landscape is witnessing a significant shift towards sustainability as Tata Motors has further expanded the electric vehicle fleet of Magenta Mobility, a key player in green transportation solutions.

The recent delivery of an additional 20 Ace EVs brings Magenta Mobility’s total deployment of these zero-emission vehicles to an impressive 350. Operating across 10 cities in India, these electric cargo vehicles have collectively covered approximately 5 million kilometres, resulting in a substantial reduction of around 2,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. This expansion not only strengthens Magenta Mobility’s green footprint but also solidifies Tata Motors’ leading position in India’s rapidly growing electric cargo vehicle market, contributing to cleaner air and more sustainable urban environments, including Mumbai. Magenta Mobility is strategically deploying Tata’s Ace EVs across a diverse range of sectors, including e-commerce, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and dairy, demonstrating the versatility and reliability of these electric cargo solutions for various last-mile delivery needs within urban centres like Mumbai and beyond. Maxson Lewis, Founder & CEO of Magenta Mobility, expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the vehicles, stating, “The Tata Ace EV has consistently delivered operational excellence, high uptime, robust range, and driver-friendly performance. With 350 vehicles already integrated into our fleet and 150 more on the way, we are strengthening our green logistics footprint across India.” This commitment to expanding their electric fleet underscores a strong belief in the operational and environmental benefits of electric mobility for urban logistics.

The strategic partnership between Tata Motors and Magenta Mobility has ambitious goals for future expansion, aiming to extend their operations to a total of 16 cities across India. This collaborative effort is playing a crucial role in promoting cleaner transportation alternatives and fostering the growth of a sustainable logistics ecosystem throughout the country, with Mumbai being a key beneficiary of this green transition. Pinaki Haldar, VP & Business Head at Tata Motors, highlighted the company’s commitment to leading India’s e-cargo transformation, stating, “We are proud to lead India’s e-cargo transformation by delivering innovative, practical and sustainable mobility solutions. The continued trust shown by Magenta Mobility in the Ace EV is a testament to the vehicle’s performance, reliability and the strength of our growing partnership.” This statement underscores Tata Motors’ pivotal role in providing reliable and high-performance electric cargo solutions that are driving the shift towards greener urban logistics.

The Tata Ace EV boasts a certified range of 161 kilometres and a payload capacity of 1000 kilograms, making it a practical and efficient solution for intra-city cargo movement. Furthermore, it is equipped with Tata’s advanced Fleet Edge platform, enabling real-time monitoring and management of the vehicle fleet, optimising operations and efficiency. With over 8,000 units already sold and a cumulative mileage of over 60 million kilometres driven nationwide, the Ace EV is demonstrably at the forefront of driving India’s electric cargo future, contributing to cleaner and more sustainable urban logistics in cities like Mumbai and across the country.
