Mumbai Metro Introduces Contactless QR-Coded Wristbands for Seamless Travel

In a bid to enhance commuter experience and streamline ticketing operations, Mumbai Metro One Pvt. Ltd. (MMOPL)

has unveiled a novel ticketing solution on Line 1, colloquially known as the Blue Line. Launched on April 10, this innovative offering, christened TapTap, presents passengers with a convenient and wearable ticketing option aimed at mitigating the hassles associated with conventional ticketing methods. TapTap manifests as waterproof wristbands embedded with QR codes, facilitating effortless passage through the Automated Fare Collection (AFC) gates. Crafted from skin-friendly silicone-based material, these wristbands ensure both durability and comfort for users. The elimination of battery dependence further augments their utility, offering uninterrupted functionality throughout the duration of a journey.

Priced at an affordable ₹200, TapTap wristbands are readily available for purchase at ticket windows along the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar (VAG) corridor. Apart from simplifying the ticket procurement process, this novel solution alleviates the need for exact change tendering, thereby enhancing operational efficiency during peak hours. Furthermore, the washable nature of TapTap wristbands underscores their practicality, ensuring ease of maintenance even amidst the bustling pace of Mumbai life. By fostering seamless transit experiences, Mumbai Metro’s latest offering epitomises its commitment to leveraging technology for the benefit of commuters, heralding a new era of convenience in urban mobility.
