A server failure affecting document verification has left more than 18,000 documents pending for applicants to the MHADA Pune housing lottery, threatening to delay applications for 4,862 homes in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad ahead of the 15 October deadline.
Applicants must have documents such as domicile and income certificates verified through barcodes on the MahaIT server before they can pay the deposit and complete their applications. With the verification process stalled, several applicants have reportedly been unable to move beyond the submission stage.
The Pune Housing and Area Development Board had initially set 30 September as the application deadline. The deadline was extended to 15 October after technical difficulties affected applicants. However, the verification problem has continued despite the extension, according to information reported from the MHADA office.
The pending documents are reported to be linked to a technical failure in the MahaIT system rather than a problem with the MHADA website. MHADA’s information and communications technology department is following up with MahaIT to resolve the fault, the report said.
The delay is also increasing pressure on the system. As documents remain unapproved, applicants are repeatedly attempting to upload them, adding to the load on the platform. The situation has led to confusion among applicants, with affected residents visiting MHADA’s office to seek assistance from officials.
The lottery covers 4,862 flats across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, and more than one lakh applications have reportedly been submitted so far. Because the application cannot be finalised until the required documents are approved and the deposit is paid, the server issue could prevent eligible applicants from completing the process within the existing deadline.
MHADA is considering an extension if the server is not restored before 15 October, according to the report. MahaIT is working to address the technical problem, while the housing board continues to monitor the verification backlog and its effect on applicants.
