A server failure in Maharashtra’s MahaIT system has stalled document verification for applicants to the MHADA Pune housing lottery, leaving more than 18,000 documents pending and raising concerns about the 15 October application deadline.
Applicants must have their domicile and income certificates verified through the barcode system before they can pay the earnest money deposit and complete their applications. With the verification process disrupted, hundreds of applicants are reportedly attempting to upload their documents repeatedly or visiting MHADA offices in Pune for assistance.
The Pune Housing and Area Development Board has announced a lottery for 4,862 homes across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. More than a lakh applications have reportedly been submitted for the lottery. The original application deadline was 30 September, but it was extended to 15 October after technical difficulties affected applicants.
The continuing server problem has left the backend verification process with a reported backlog of more than 18,000 documents. Applicants whose certificates have not been approved cannot proceed to the next stage of the application, including payment of the earnest money deposit. Repeated upload attempts are also increasing the load on the system, according to the report.
MHADA has indicated that the problem is linked to the MahaIT server rather than the housing board’s own website. The board’s information and communications technology department is following up with MahaIT to resolve the technical fault, according to information cited by Lokmat.
The disruption has also shifted pressure from the online system to MHADA’s physical offices. Citizens affected by the verification failure are reportedly arriving at the offices in large numbers, while officials are attempting to explain the status of their applications and the next steps available to them.
A senior MHADA source told Lokmat that efforts were under way to resolve the server issue at the earliest and that the situation was being monitored. The official said the administration would discuss an extension with senior authorities if necessary to prevent applicants from being disadvantaged by the technical failure.
For applicants, the immediate issue is not the submission of the application form alone but the completion of the linked verification and payment process before the deadline. MHADA’s next decision will depend on whether MahaIT restores barcode verification in time and whether the housing board formally extends the application period beyond 15 October.
