A burglary at a gated community in Neknampur, near Manikonda, has exposed gaps in night-time security after four masked men allegedly entered the premises and stole ₹80,000 from a locked flat between 2am and 3am on Sunday. Police have registered a case, formed special teams and begun security-awareness measures across nearby residential communities.
Narsingi inspector D Vishnu Vardhan Reddy said the four men entered the apartment, walked up to the fourth floor and targeted a locked house. They allegedly left with the cash without harming any residents and fled on foot. Police said the men had covered their faces, making identification difficult.
According to police, the accused may have entered by scaling a wall at the rear of the property. Investigators said inadequate and inattentive security at the gated community worked to the burglars’ advantage. A clues team was sent to the scene and fingerprints were collected as part of the investigation.
The case followed a complaint from the apartment owners. As of Monday night, police had not reported a breakthrough and said they had not received information about the gang targeting any other house. CCTV footage showing the men entering and leaving the apartment circulated widely on social media after the incident.
The burglary has prompted Chandanagar police to intensify preventive measures in gated communities. Officers visited major residential complexes, met security personnel and management representatives, and advised them to strengthen night surveillance and access control.
Police said they had prepared an awareness poster describing the alleged modus operandi and precautionary measures. The outreach is focused on alerting residents and security staff to vulnerabilities at rear walls, entry points and during overnight shifts.
The incident places renewed attention on how privately managed residential developments monitor access beyond their main gates. While the police investigation will determine how the accused entered and whether they are connected to other cases, the immediate response has centred on improving vigilance and surveillance in surrounding communities.
Police special teams are continuing efforts to identify and trace the accused. Chandanagar officers are also expected to continue visits and awareness meetings with gated-community managements and security personnel.
