A six-member gang allegedly broke into Flotilla Apartment in Manikonda, Hyderabad, in the early hours of September 27, stealing valuables and threatening a resident with weapons when confronted, according to Narsingi police. The incident has prompted an investigation and a review of CCTV footage from the apartment complex.
The break-in took place at around 3.30 a.m. within the limits of Narsingi Police Station. According to Narsingi Police Inspector D. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, the suspects cut through the fencing around the apartment complex to enter the premises.
The group allegedly moved through the staircase to a locked flat in C Block, broke into the residence and stole valuables estimated at around ₹80,000. The police account did not provide further details about the specific items reported missing.
When a resident confronted the suspects, they allegedly attacked and threatened him with weapons before escaping from the complex. The confrontation added a security concern for residents beyond the reported theft, as the incident occurred inside a residential premises during the early morning hours.
Police reached the apartment after being informed about the incident and began examining CCTV footage installed within the complex. Investigators are using the footage to trace the suspects and reconstruct how they entered, moved through and exited the property.
The suspects have been described in the report as a ‘chaddi gang’, a term used for groups accused in a series of housebreaking offences in which members have been reported to strike properties while wearing limited clothing. The police investigation will establish whether the Manikonda incident is linked to any previous offences or whether the group operated independently.
The case also places attention on the security boundary of apartment complexes, where fencing, access points, staircases and surveillance systems form the first line of protection for residents. In this incident, police said the suspects entered by cutting through the perimeter fencing, while CCTV review is now central to the investigation.
Narsingi police have not announced arrests in connection with the case. The immediate next step is the examination of CCTV footage and the reconstruction of the suspects’ movements within the Flotilla Apartment premises as investigators work to identify and trace them.
