The Maharashtra government will launch a state-level job fair on September 29, offering more than 25,000 employment opportunities across 12 districts, including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, according to an official statement reported by Mid-Day.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will launch the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Rozgar Mahakumbh at 11 am at SNDT Women’s University in Churchgate, Mumbai. The programme has been organised under the state’s Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation department, officials said.
Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Ajit Pawar, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, ministers, Members of Parliament and senior government officials are expected to attend the launch programme.
More than 418 employment fairs will be held across the Konkan and Nashik divisions as part of the initiative. The districts covered in the Konkan division are Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. The Nashik division coverage includes Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar.
According to the state government, more than 1,500 companies and establishments are expected to participate. The fairs will use a candidate-vacancy matching process intended to connect applicants’ educational qualifications, skills and experience with available job openings.
The employment drive will also provide jobseekers with information about industry manpower requirements, skills sought by employers and career opportunities in different sectors. Participating companies will be able to identify and recruit candidates according to their workforce requirements.
Candidates will receive pre-placement training focused on communication skills, personality development and other soft skills required during job interviews and in the workplace. The initiative therefore combines vacancy access with preparation before recruitment, rather than limiting participation to interviews and employer counters.
Candidates and employers can register for the employment fairs through a QR code. The department has asked interested candidates to contact their nearest Industrial Training Institute or the district-level Assistant Commissioner, Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Guidance Centre for further information.
A special employment fair for women will also be held at SNDT Women’s University as part of the Rozgar Mahakumbh. Around 600 to 700 women candidates are expected to participate. They will be able to visit company stalls, obtain information on available positions, eligibility requirements, job roles, salary ranges and recruitment procedures, and interact directly with company representatives.
Officials said the women’s employment fair is intended to connect women’s skills with available job opportunities and promote their economic independence. The state government’s next scheduled milestone is the launch of the employment drive and the start of the district-level fairs on September 29.
