Larsen & Toubro’s power transmission and distribution business has secured multiple engineering, procurement and construction orders in India, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, with the projects covering transmission lines, substations and cabling works.
The orders are aimed at strengthening electricity networks and supporting the evacuation of renewable power. L&T announced the contracts on Monday through its Power Transmission & Distribution business, which undertakes transmission and distribution infrastructure projects across several markets.
In Saudi Arabia, L&T has won orders in the 380 kilovolt transmission and substation segments. The projects will support transmission-capacity augmentation and renewable-energy evacuation, according to the company. The work is intended to strengthen the country’s transmission network as additional generation capacity is connected to the grid.
In the UAE, L&T has secured an order to construct 132/11 kV substations along with associated cabling works. The scope places the company in the distribution infrastructure segment, where substations and cable networks connect electricity systems to local demand centres.
In India, the company has received an order from a private-sector developer to establish a transmission system in Visakhapatnam. The domestic project will include transmission lines and substations, although L&T did not disclose further project details in the announcement.
The company’s announcement covers orders reported in the source as having a combined value of about ₹10,000 crore. It did not provide a project-wise value or specify the execution timelines for the individual contracts.
“With the growing demand for grid strengthening, renewable energy integration and associated infrastructure, we are leveraging our technology, project execution expertise and global presence to deliver value for our esteemed clients,” Joji Sebastian, executive vice-president and head of L&T’s PT&D business, said.
L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution business provides services across the project lifecycle, including design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning. Its capabilities cover transmission lines, substations, underground cable networks, distribution networks, power-quality improvement projects and infrastructure electrification.
The orders reflect the range of infrastructure required to expand electricity systems: high-voltage transmission assets to move power across regions, substations to transform and route electricity, and cabling works to support distribution networks. The renewable-energy component also requires grid infrastructure capable of carrying power from generation sites to consumption centres.
L&T is an Indian multinational engaged in engineering, procurement and construction projects, hi-tech manufacturing, products and services. The company said it operates across multiple geographies and has a global presence in the power transmission and distribution sector.
The company did not announce the commissioning dates, construction schedules or further technical specifications for the Saudi Arabian, UAE and Visakhapatnam projects. The next disclosed milestones will depend on project execution and the delivery of the respective transmission, substation and cabling packages.
