The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group has announced a Rs 600 crore expansion plan over the next five years, with the luxury and mid-scale hotel operator targeting around 1,000 additional rooms through a combination of owned properties and management contracts across India.
The planned additions will expand the group’s existing inventory of 2,300 rooms. About half of the new rooms will come through properties owned by the group, while the remaining 50 per cent will be added through management contracts, according to the company.
Vrindavan will be the first property under the management-contract model, with approximately 75 rooms. The group said it is also exploring opportunities in Chennai, Hyderabad, Leh, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Lakshadweep, Siliguri and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, along with other destinations.
The LaLiT is targeting close to 20 management contracts over the next few years. The model will allow the group to expand its brand presence in locations where local partners provide the capital for hotel development, while The LaLiT manages the properties.
Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson and Managing Director of The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group, said the company would invest Rs 600 crore in properties where it owns the land. Management contracts would be used in projects where partners bring the capital, she said.
The company said the expansion would be funded through internal accruals and savings. It linked the funding plan to a reduction in interest costs over the past two years and described the approach as part of its financial prudence.
The group currently operates 14 hotels in India, including 12 luxury hotels and two mid-scale properties under The LaLiT Traveller series. Its existing and planned projects span established urban markets, tourism destinations and pilgrimage locations, indicating a mixed expansion strategy rather than a focus on a single hotel market.
The LaLiT Ahmedabad is described as the leading project in the expansion pipeline. The 240-room luxury hotel is scheduled to open ahead of the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The group is also establishing a presence in Chitrakoot with a property of approximately 50 rooms.
Expansion is planned at several existing properties. The 26-acre Bekal site, located between the Arabian Sea and the Nombili River, is expected to receive an additional 100 rooms. The group also plans new wings and additional villas at its Goa hotel, adding 50 rooms.
At Udaipur, two new wings are planned with 55 additional rooms. These projects will add capacity to existing hospitality assets while the management-contract pipeline is intended to extend the group’s presence into new destinations.
The announcement places the group’s expansion across multiple forms of hotel development: owned assets, additions to existing properties and management-led projects. The company has not disclosed individual project costs or opening dates for all the proposed properties. The next milestones will be the development and opening schedules for the projects in the pipeline, including the Ahmedabad hotel and the first management-contract property in Vrindavan.
