The final Karnataka electoral roll has been published after a 129-day Special Intensive Revision (SIR), allowing voters to check their names, updated part and serial numbers and download electoral roll PDFs through the Election Commission of India’s platforms.
Voters can search the roll by entering their district, constituency and part number on the ECI website. They can also use the serial number printed on their voter identity card to check their details. Updated information is available through the ECINet app using the voter’s EPIC number.
The revision began with the verification of 5,54,32,314 voters recorded on Karnataka’s electoral roll as of June 16. The draft roll published on August 24 showed that around 20% of voters had been classified under ASDDO categories: Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and Others.
The largest category among those removed from the draft list was ‘permanently shifted’, accounting for 65.45 lakh voters, or 11.8% of the ASDDO list. The publication of the final roll followed a two-month period for claims, notices and objections.
Of the 4,46,35,975 voters included in the draft roll, around 43.8 lakh were issued notices during the claims and objections phase. Officials said approximately 60,000 people who received notices were excluded from the final list. Claims and objections could be filed during the first month of the phase, until September 23.
Between June 16 and September 23, 7.87 lakh citizens applied for inclusion in the final roll through Form 6. A further 4,530 non-resident Indians sought inclusion through Form 6A. Citizens and their families filed 58,475 objections to existing voters and requests for deletion, while 10.99 lakh voters sought modifications to their details, including spelling corrections and changes to polling booth locations.
The SIR exercise began on June 20 with 59,050 booth-level officers, 332 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and 224 Electoral Registration Officers. The state had 5,905 booth-level officer supervisors, each overseeing 10 officers. District commissioners served as District Election Officers, with 34 such officers across Karnataka.
The number of booth-level officers and assistant electoral registration officers increased during the exercise to 60,932 and 4,258 respectively. Recognised political parties appointed 1.33 lakh booth-level agents during the enumeration phase. These agents helped distribute forms and later filed objections during the claims and objections process.
The enumeration phase was initially scheduled to end on July 29 but was extended by 10 days to August 8 because of the number of voters requiring ASDDO classification. A second 10-day extension was subsequently granted. Voters can now use the ECI website and ECINet app to verify their final details and updated serial numbers.
