Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara will undertake separate district visits from September 1 to review drought conditions, inspect affected areas and meet senior officials, according to an announcement reported by Prajavani.
Shivakumar will travel to Gadag on September 1 for a day-long review of drought-affected areas. He is scheduled to leave Bengaluru by special aircraft at 10 a.m. and reach Hubballi, from where he will travel by helicopter to Gadag. The chief minister is expected to begin inspecting affected locations in the district at 11.30 a.m.
Following the field visits, Shivakumar will return to Gadag and hold a meeting with senior district-level officials at the deputy commissioner’s office. The meeting will focus on the drought situation and the information gathered by the district administration. The chief minister is expected to spend about five hours in Gadag before leaving by helicopter at 4.30 p.m. for Hubballi and returning to Bengaluru by special aircraft.
Parameshwara will visit Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts on September 1 and 2 as part of a separate review programme. On Tuesday, he will inspect drought-affected locations in the Mysuru district taluks of Krishnarajanagar, Hunsur and T. Narasipura from 10 a.m.
The deputy chief minister is scheduled to hold a meeting with officials on the drought situation at the Mysuru Zilla Panchayat auditorium from 5 p.m. The programme will continue on Wednesday in Chamarajanagar district, where he is expected to review conditions in Gundlupet, Chamarajanagar, Yelandur and Hanur taluks from 10 a.m.
A further meeting with officials has been scheduled at the Ambedkar Bhavan in Hanur from 4.30 p.m. The district visits will give the state leadership an opportunity to receive field-level information and review the situation with local officials, according to the announcement.
The visits come as Karnataka’s drought situation has intensified, with the government scheduling inspections across affected areas in northern and southern parts of the state. The programme combines field assessments with meetings at district headquarters, covering the reported conditions in Gadag, Mysuru and Chamarajanagar.
The September 1 schedule places the chief minister in Gadag while the deputy chief minister begins his two-day programme in Mysuru. Parameshwara’s review will conclude in Hanur on September 2 with the scheduled meeting at the Ambedkar Bhavan.
