A new ₹15-crore power substation and a 66-kilovolt transmission line will be built at K Belathur in Mysuru district to improve electricity supply and voltage conditions across more than 30 villages, MLA Anil Chikkamadu said at the groundbreaking ceremony on October 9.
The project is being established in K Belathur village, under the K Belathur gram panchayat limits in Saragur taluk. The work includes construction of a 0.332-kilometre 66 kV power line and installation of the new substation, according to details reported by Prajavani – Mysuru.
Once completed, the facility is expected to improve power supply and voltage levels in Manuganahalli, Hunagalli, Lanka, Adahalli, Hunasehalli, Hoovinakola, Shantipura and Manchahalli, among other villages. The project is also intended to provide uninterrupted electricity supply in the affected areas.
Chikkamadu said the substation would result in annual electricity savings of about 1.67 lakh units. He asked officials to complete the work without lapses and set July 2027 as the completion deadline.
The contract for the project has been awarded to Mahavir Electromech Limited of Bengaluru. KPТCL assistant engineer Preetham said the substation was being built to benefit residents and farmers in the area. The project is therefore expected to support both household electricity access and the needs of agricultural users, although the supplied report does not specify the present number or duration of outages in the villages.
The project comes amid other infrastructure works in K Belathur. The MLA said a cement-concrete road, a community building and a school had been provided in the village. He also said K Belathur had been converted into a revenue village last month and that title documents had been distributed to beneficiaries.
Further local works mentioned at the ceremony include the proposed inauguration of the Valmiki Bhavan and Ram Mandir in November. Chikkamadu said about 90% of the work in the village had been completed and promised that action would be taken in the coming days to improve the remaining roads.
Tahsildar Mohanakumari, executive officer Prem Kumar, engineer Usha, panchayat development officer Krishnappa and other officials and local representatives attended the ceremony. The power substation and 66 kV line are scheduled to be completed by July 2027.
