Jaipur Municipal Corporation has announced Diwali Khushiyon Wali-2026, a citywide programme combining decoration contests, sanitation activities, public events and ward-level incentives, with the top-performing ward eligible for additional development works worth Rs 51 lakh.
The programme will invite residents to showcase decorations at homes, markets and establishments across seven competition categories. Residential participants will compete in traditional and modern decoration categories, with prizes including electric two-wheelers, LED televisions and smartphones. The programme document does not specify which prize will be awarded for each position.
Separate competitions have been planned for commercial establishments, institutions and markets. Markets in the Walled City and areas outside it will be assessed separately. Winners in these categories will receive mementoes and certificates of appreciation.
The municipal corporation has also linked the celebrations to ward-level civic performance. Councillors can submit 50 photographs highlighting cleanliness initiatives, innovations and special efforts undertaken in their wards. The first-ranked ward will receive additional development works worth Rs 51 lakh, while the second- and third-ranked wards will receive works worth Rs 31 lakh and Rs 21 lakh respectively. Wards ranked fourth to tenth will each be eligible for development works worth Rs 11 lakh.
Residents and participating establishments can register using their mobile numbers and upload live photographs on the programme portal between November 6 and 11. The corporation has specified that AI-generated or edited photographs will not be accepted, making live photographic documentation part of the competition process.
The schedule also includes Safai Seva Marathon 2.0 on November 5, with sanitation workers, councillors and residents expected to participate. Outstanding wards will be rewarded as part of the civic cleanliness component of the programme.
Public events are planned during the following days. A drone show will be held at Vidhan Sabha at 9 pm on November 7. Fireworks are scheduled for 9.30 pm on November 8. The programme therefore combines neighbourhood-level participation and municipal incentives with large public events at city locations.
The ward reward structure places development works at the centre of the corporation’s competition model. Instead of limiting recognition to individual decorations, the programme allows ward-level performance to be linked to future civic works, while the registration and photograph-upload process provides the stated mechanism for participation. The programme’s activities begin with the sanitation marathon on November 5, followed by registrations and photograph submissions from November 6 to 11.
