Jaipur’s Walled City Launches 2,000-Worker Clean Sweep

The Jaipur Municipal Corporation will deploy more than 2,000 sanitation workers across 37 beats in the Walled City as it launches Operation Clean Sweep 2.0 at 11.30 pm on Saturday, according to a report by the Times of India.

The night-time operation is planned as a simultaneous cleaning drive covering the entire Walled City. Teams will work across all designated beats, with the corporation organising the deployment to ensure that no beat is left outside the scheduled operation.

The exercise is the second large-scale clean-up drive organised by the municipal corporation in the historic core. The first Operation Clean Sweep was conducted on the night of May 9, 2026, when more than 2,000 municipal workers carried out intensive cleaning across 36 beats.

The corporation’s decision to hold a second edition follows the attention generated by the first operation. The Times of India reported that the earlier drive drew interest from across the country, prompting the civic body to organise another coordinated operation based on its experience.

The expansion from 36 beats in the first drive to 37 beats in the second indicates that the corporation intends to cover the entire designated Walled City area through a single, synchronised deployment. The operation is also structured around night-time work, allowing sanitation teams to work across the beats at the same time rather than carrying out the exercise in separate phases.

For Jaipur’s historic core, the operation places the focus on how municipal sanitation is organised across a dense and administratively divided urban area. The beat-based system allows the corporation to assign teams to defined areas, while the simultaneous deployment provides a citywide civic operation within the Walled City rather than an isolated clean-up at selected streets or markets.

The available report does not specify the individual locations covered within the 37 beats, the categories of waste to be removed, the equipment being used, or the follow-up arrangements after the night-time drive. It also does not provide details on whether the corporation has announced a longer-term schedule to maintain the results of the operation.

Operation Clean Sweep 2.0 will therefore be assessed initially through its execution across the 37 beats and the corporation’s ability to coordinate more than 2,000 workers in one operation. The Jaipur Municipal Corporation’s immediate stated plan is to carry out the cleaning work simultaneously across the entire Walled City on Saturday night.
