Jaipur residents will be able to join a free cyclothon on November 1 to promote cycling, clean air and sustainable urban living under BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week. The ride will begin at 7am from the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board office in Jhalana Doongri and is open to citizens across age groups.
Titled ‘Cyclothon for All’, the event is being organised jointly by the International Society for Life Sciences, Rajasthan’s environment and climate change department, and the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board. Participants have been asked to report at the starting point by 6.15am.
The cycling route will pass through Apex Circle and Malviya Nagar before reaching the North Western Railway headquarters. Riders will then return to the RSPCB office along the same route, according to the organisers.
Entry to the event is free, but participants must bring their own bicycles. The organisers said the initiative is intended to encourage cycling as a daily mode of transport, reduce dependence on fossil fuels and raise awareness about air pollution and physical fitness.
The event also links sustainable-lifestyle messaging with the practical challenge of making cycling more visible in Jaipur’s transport system. While the cyclothon is a one-day public initiative, its stated focus is on encouraging residents to consider cycling beyond organised events and as part of everyday mobility.
Several educational institutions in Jaipur are supporting the programme. The organisers have invited participants from different age groups to join the ride, with the route and reporting arrangements fixed ahead of the November 1 start.
