Infosys has inaugurated a 1.1 million sq. ft. software development block at its Pocharam campus in Hyderabad, adding 10,000 seats and enabling the company to support an additional workforce of more than 13,000 employees under a hybrid working model.
The expansion was announced after the inauguration on Friday, which was attended by Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu. Infosys said the new facility would expand its operations in Hyderabad and strengthen its capacity to serve global clients.
The Pocharam Development Centre is spread across 450 acres and currently has seven software development blocks with approximately 4.58 million sq. ft. of built-up area. The new block adds to an already large technology campus and increases the physical capacity available for the company’s operations in the city.
Infosys said the centre supports clients in banking, financial services and insurance, retail, life sciences and manufacturing. The expanded facility will focus on artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, engineering and other next-generation digital services, although the company did not disclose the investment made in the new block.
The facility has been designed with energy-efficient radiant cooling, smart lighting, rainwater harvesting, wastewater reuse and spaces that use natural daylight, according to Infosys. It also includes flexible workspaces, collaborative areas and employee wellness facilities intended to support a hybrid working environment.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the expansion represented another milestone for Telangana’s position as a global technology destination. In a statement quoted in an Infosys release, he said investments of this scale reinforced Hyderabad’s position as a preferred destination for global enterprises and supported the State’s aim of building a future-ready, innovation-driven economy.
Vikramarka, who also holds the Finance, Planning and Energy portfolios, said the facility would create opportunities for young people to participate in technology-led growth. The statement did not provide a specific hiring schedule or identify how many of the potential additional employees would be newly recruited for the Pocharam campus.
Infosys Chief Financial Officer Jayesh Sanghrajka said Hyderabad had played an important role in the company’s growth. He said the Pocharam expansion would help the company scale operations, develop specialised talent and deliver complex transformation programmes for global clients.
The expansion comes as Infosys identifies artificial intelligence adoption as an important area of demand from enterprises. The company said the Pocharam campus would serve as a strategic hub combining technology infrastructure, skilled employees and capabilities for global client programmes. Further operational details and the timeline for filling the additional capacity were not disclosed in the announcement.
