Indiramma Housing Progress Exposes Delays in Husnabad Town

Telangana BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has ordered officials to accelerate construction of Indiramma houses in Husnabad constituency after reviewing progress and finding that only 94 of 545 sanctioned houses in Husnabad town had been completed.

Prabhakar conducted the review meeting at the Husnabad municipal office on Saturday, covering constituency development, housing construction and petitions received through the Prajavani public grievance system. Officials reviewed complaints related mainly to land, electricity, Indiramma houses and pensions, and were instructed to register every application and act on it promptly.

According to the review, 5,500 Indiramma houses were sanctioned across the Husnabad constituency over two years under the Praja Palana government. Of the houses approved in the first phase, 1,427 have been completed and another 1,346 have reached roof level. The progress figures indicate that a substantial number of sanctioned houses remain at earlier stages of construction or have not begun.

The minister expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work in Husnabad town and instructed officials to examine construction progress across all mandals. Proposals are to be prepared for cancelling allocations where construction has not started, while stalled projects are to be completed quickly. Officials were also directed to complete the selection of beneficiaries for the second phase within 10 days and issue the related proceedings.

The second phase allocations include 96 houses for Husnabad town and 86 for rural areas. Akkennapet has been allocated 167 houses, Koheda 192, Chigurumamidi 173, Saidapur 159, Bheemadevarapalli 188 and Elkathurthi 158. Officials were told to identify genuinely eligible poor families across the mandals. Families that received a house in the first phase will not be considered for a second allocation, while government employees and families owning more than three acres of land are ineligible, according to the instructions reviewed at the meeting.

The review also covered the development of all 173 villages in the constituency, the allocation of land for government requirements and the implementation of the Jalashree and oil palm programmes. Officials were asked to take advance measures to prevent drinking-water shortages during summer and to prioritise petitions received through the Palle Palleku Ponna Anna–Palle Pallelo Praja Palana programme.

Prabhakar further instructed officials to ensure that welfare schemes reach every eligible person and that widow pensions are implemented within 15 days. Officials were also asked to coordinate the distribution of free aids to elderly people and persons with disabilities through ALIMCO, and to organise Deepavali celebrations at the 2,728 newly built Indiramma houses in the constituency. The next immediate milestones are completion of second-phase beneficiary selection within 10 days and renewed reviews of stalled housing works.
