Hyderabad Traffic Police Mobilize Special Teams for Monsoon Challenges

Hyderabad’s traffic police have sprung into action with the advent of the monsoon season, strategically deploying special teams to address the unique challenges posed by heavy rainfall, particularly along the city’s bustling IT corridor.

Led by sub-inspectors, these dedicated teams are tasked with managing monsoon-related traffic issues in and around prominent office complexes and key intersections in the western corridor of Hyderabad. According to a senior traffic police official, these teams will conduct patrols on two-wheelers, meticulously inspecting areas prone to waterlogging to ensure swift intervention and resolution of traffic disruptions. Continuous monitoring of critical areas such as the Outer Ring Road enables the authorities to promptly issue advisories in cases of severe congestion, facilitating timely information dissemination to commuters. In the event of waterlogging, the ground personnel will promptly notify the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) teams for immediate water drainage and clearance of blocked drains. Additionally, the Directorate of Enforcement Vigilance & Disaster Management is actively involved in addressing other impediments to traffic flow, including fallen trees, building collapses, and severe water stagnation, ensuring the swift clearance of routes obstructed by such incidents.

Acknowledging the need for enhanced operational capabilities, the traffic police have requested additional resources such as pumps and tree-cutters to augment their response capabilities, enabling them to swiftly clear blocked routes and restore normal traffic flow. Furthermore, measures such as the reopening of previously closed U-turns aim to alleviate congestion during peak hours, with a particular focus on areas like Gachibowli, Raidurgam, Narsingi, and Madhapur, where office traffic is concentrated. As Hyderabad braces for the challenges of the monsoon season, the proactive measures undertaken by the traffic police underscore their commitment to ensuring the safety and efficiency of the city’s road networks. By leveraging specialized teams and collaborative efforts with other agencies, the authorities aim to mitigate the impact of adverse weather conditions on traffic movement, facilitating smoother commuting experiences for residents and commuters alike.
