Hyderabad Traffic Diversions Set for Durga Matha Immersion

Hyderabad will see traffic restrictions and diversions from 3 pm on October 21 to 6 am on October 24 as authorities manage vehicle movement during the Durga Matha idol immersion programme. Commuters have been advised to plan journeys in advance and avoid affected junctions where possible.

According to the traffic advisory reported by Deccan Chronicle, restrictions will be imposed around People’s Plaza, Garden Point, Jalavihar Baby Ponds and Sanjeevaiah Park. The measures will remain in force through the immersion period and may be adjusted depending on local traffic conditions.

The affected locations are situated along important movement routes in and around the city’s public spaces and lakefront areas. Traffic restrictions in these zones are intended to manage the movement of vehicles and participants connected with the immersion programme, while allowing traffic police to respond to changing conditions on the ground.

The advisory does not prescribe one fixed diversion pattern for the entire period. Instead, it states that restrictions will be imposed depending on local traffic conditions. This means commuters approaching the listed areas may encounter changes in access or movement as traffic police manage congestion and the movement associated with the immersion activity.

The traffic advisory has asked residents and other road users to avoid the affected junctions and select their routes before starting their journeys. Commuters have also been instructed to follow directions issued by traffic police during the restriction period. The guidance is particularly relevant to people travelling through the areas during the afternoon, evening and early-morning hours covered by the advisory.

The restriction window begins at 3 pm on October 21 and ends at 6 am on October 24. The three-day period covers the scheduled immersion activity and allows traffic management arrangements to remain in place as conditions change around the identified locations.

For Hyderabad’s transport network, the advisory highlights the operational challenge of managing temporary, event-related demand on roads that also carry regular commuter traffic. Unlike a permanent road closure, the restrictions may change with the volume and movement of vehicles and participants. The traffic police instructions will therefore determine how road users move through or around the affected areas during the programme.

Residents heading towards People’s Plaza, Garden Point, Jalavihar Baby Ponds and Sanjeevaiah Park have been advised to allow additional planning time and avoid the affected junctions wherever possible. The traffic advisory’s immediate next step is the implementation of restrictions from 3 pm on October 21, with traffic police continuing to regulate movement until 6 am on October 24.
