Hyderabad: Telangana’s proposed Ramagundam–Manuguru railway corridor is emerging as a major infrastructure project with the potential to reshape freight movement, industrial logistics and regional connectivity across the state. The planned rail link, spanning over 200 kilometres, is expected to strengthen economic integration between key mining, industrial and commercial centres while supporting long-term transport efficiency.
The project has been conceived as a strategic freight and passenger corridor connecting coal-producing regions in northern and eastern Telangana with the state’s broader railway network. With the Detailed Project Report already submitted for central approval, authorities are targeting implementation over the next five years, including land acquisition and construction activities. Transport planners view the corridor as a critical intervention in improving logistics performance. The proposed alignment would create a shorter route between major coal mining regions, reducing travel distances and easing pressure on existing railway sections that currently handle substantial freight volumes. The proposed line is also expected to support passenger mobility by improving rail access across several underserved regions.
