Hyderabad Road Widening Project Gets September Deadline
Hyderabad: The Telangana government has accelerated work on the Bahadurpally Kompally Road Widening Project, setting a September 30 deadline for completing a critical stretch aimed at improving connectivity across Hyderabad’s expanding north-western suburbs. The project is expected to strengthen urban mobility, reduce travel delays and support the region’s growing residential and industrial development.
During a site inspection at Dulapally on Monday, the state’s Minister for Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, and Industries reviewed construction progress alongside senior officials from multiple government agencies involved in executing the project. The review focused on resolving pending bottlenecks that have slowed work on key sections of the corridor. Officials were instructed to prioritise infrastructure works on the forest stretch, where utility relocation remains one of the final hurdles. Electrical pole shifting has been scheduled for completion by mid-August, allowing road expansion activities to progress before the end-of-September target. The minister also directed authorities to expedite land acquisition in Bahadurpally and Dulapally, recognising that timely access to land remains essential for maintaining construction schedules. In parallel, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has been asked to submit a proposal for a stormwater drainage network to the Cantonment Municipal Council for technical review and further implementation.
Urban planners note that projects such as the Bahadurpally Kompally Road Widening Project are becoming increasingly important as Hyderabad’s peripheral growth corridors witness rapid residential expansion, industrial investment and rising traffic volumes.
