Hyderabad Raxaul Express Restored After Railway Block

The Hyderabad–Raxaul Express is set to resume operations on previously cancelled dates after railway authorities completed major infrastructure and track maintenance work in the Chakradharpur division. The restoration will provide passengers with additional long-distance connectivity between Telangana and Bihar during October and November.

Train 17005, operating from Hyderabad to Raxaul, will depart on October 8 and 15 and November 5 and 12 according to its scheduled timetable. The return service, train 17006, will operate from Raxaul to Hyderabad on October 11 and 18 and November 8 and 15. The earlier cancellations were linked to a planned mega block on the Kansbahal–Dharuadihi section of the South Eastern Railway’s Chakradharpur division. The block was required to facilitate track maintenance and other infrastructure-related work. With the work now completed and operating conditions reviewed, railway authorities have withdrawn the earlier cancellation orders and restored the services for the affected dates.

For passengers, the change is particularly relevant because long-distance trains connecting major employment and population centres provide an important alternative to air and road travel. The Hyderabad–Raxaul route serves communities travelling between southern and eastern India, including workers, students and families. The restoration also illustrates the operational trade-off involved in railway infrastructure upgrades. Temporary service disruptions can inconvenience passengers, but planned maintenance and renewal work are essential for maintaining track quality, operational safety and network reliability. Completing such projects within defined windows can help reduce the duration of disruption. Railway authorities have advised passengers to check the latest service information before travelling, as schedules can change because of operational requirements or subsequent infrastructure work.

The return of the Hyderabad–Raxaul service adds capacity to the long-distance rail network at a time when demand for affordable inter-city mobility remains strong. Reliable rail connections can also help reduce dependence on road-based travel on longer routes, supporting a more efficient and lower-emission transport system. For passengers planning journeys in October and November, the immediate priority is to verify the confirmed departure date and timetable before booking or beginning the trip.
