While light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms are likely on Friday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that precipitation will gradually decline from Saturday, although gusty winds are expected to continue across isolated areas.
According to the IMD, Friday’s forecast includes scattered light to moderate rain or thundershowers, with thunderstorms and wind speeds of 30–40 kmph at select locations. Similar wind conditions are likely to persist over the following two days, even as rainfall activity decreases. The change in weather is linked to evolving monsoon conditions over central and eastern India. Meteorologists said the seasonal monsoon trough, a key driver of rainfall across the region, has shifted in a manner that is expected to reduce the intensity of rain over Telangana. The department also observed changes in the prevailing wind shear pattern, contributing to the anticipated moderation in rainfall. For Hyderabad, the easing of rainfall could help improve road conditions after repeated showers caused waterlogging, slower traffic movement and disruptions to daily commuting in several neighbourhoods this week. However, urban planners caution that isolated downpours can still trigger local flooding in low-lying areas, particularly where stormwater drainage systems remain under pressure.
Weather experts also advise residents to remain cautious despite the expected reduction in rainfall. Strong winds accompanying thunderstorms may continue to affect road users, construction activity and outdoor operations. Authorities are expected to monitor conditions closely in vulnerable locations until weather patterns stabilise.
