Hyderabad, Pune, and Navi Mumbai have emerged as India’s most dynamic talent hubs, distinguished by their superior quality of life. KPMG in India’s Talent Feasibility Report highlights these cities as prime locations for recruiters seeking diverse talent with critical skill sets.

The report identifies Hyderabad, Pune, and Navi Mumbai as rising stars meeting the growing demands of the job market. These cities have become potential hubs for diverse sectors, attracting organisations looking for skilled manpower. Hyderabad is noted for its talent in IT, BFSI, professional services, e-commerce, and infrastructure. Pune excels in IT, BFSI, telecom and media, manufacturing, automobiles, and professional services, while Navi Mumbai stands out in IT, BFSI, and telecom and media.

Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru continue to have the highest concentration of talent, drawing professionals from various sectors. Bengaluru is recognised for its expertise in IT, e-commerce, BFSI, professional services, and infrastructure. Chennai has a stronghold in manufacturing and automobile-related talent. Mumbai’s strengths lie in BFSI, telecom and media, professional services, and e-commerce, while Delhi is known for its infrastructure and IT capabilities. In the Delhi NCR region, Gurugram excels in professional services, manufacturing, e-commerce, telecom and media, and automobiles.

KPMG’s report underscores the evolving employment landscape in Indian cities. The decision-making criteria for organisations are increasingly influenced by the nature of work, with tactical and transformational roles primarily situated near headquarters in Tier-1 and satellite cities. Tier-2 cities are becoming hubs for transactional roles, driven by factors like talent availability, government support, infrastructure development, and cost considerations. Tier-1 cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad face high attrition rates due to intense competition and abundant career growth opportunities. Conversely, satellite cities like Navi Mumbai and Noida, along with Tier-2 cities such as Kochi and Indore, exhibit lower attrition rates.

From an employee perspective, cost of living is a significant consideration, encompassing residential rent, property indices, local purchasing power, and essential goods and services. Hyderabad, Chennai, and Navi Mumbai are attractive to organisations due to competitive commercial leasing prices. Additionally, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Delhi boast lower cost of living indices. While Bengaluru, Gurugram, and Pune offer higher local purchasing power, Chennai, Navi Mumbai, and Pune are noted for their safety.
