Hyderabad Pondicherry bus service connectivity is set to expand with FlixBus India launching a Volvo sleeper connection between the Telangana capital and Pondicherry, while adding links to Tiruvannamalai, Guntur, Coonoor and Ooty.
The company said the new Hyderabad–Pondicherry service will cover an approximately 1,800-km round trip. The route will also connect travellers to Tiruvannamalai, one of South India’s prominent temple destinations, giving the service a wider regional role beyond the two primary cities.
FlixBus India, a travel-tech company, said the route expansion would strengthen its network across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The company is also planning to introduce new connections to Guntur in Andhra Pradesh and Coonoor and Ooty in Tamil Nadu.
The announcement comes as intercity bus operators increase links between major urban centres and tourism or pilgrimage destinations in southern India. Unlike a single-city public transport service, these routes depend on coordination across state borders, long-distance operating capacity and demand spread across multiple destinations. The information released by the company does not specify the service’s operating timetable, fares, boarding points or frequency.
FlixBus India said it would add 120 buses during the third and fourth quarters to increase capacity across its southern network. The company said the additional fleet would support both existing routes and the new connections being announced.
The planned capacity addition could allow the operator to expand its presence beyond direct city-to-city travel and build a larger network linking regional urban centres. Hyderabad’s role in the announcement reflects its position as a major origin and interchange point for travel across southern states, according to the company.
Surya Khurana, Managing Director of FlixBus India, said South India had demonstrated the depth and diversity of the intercity mobility opportunity over the past two years. He described cities such as Hyderabad as important points of connectivity within the company’s wider network.
The new routes also connect different types of travel demand. Pondicherry, Coonoor and Ooty are established leisure destinations, while Tiruvannamalai is a major temple destination and Guntur is an important urban centre in Andhra Pradesh. The company’s announcement does not provide projected passenger numbers or a route-wise breakdown of the 120 additional buses.
The next operational step will be the rollout of the Hyderabad–Pondicherry service and the announced connections to Guntur, Coonoor and Ooty. FlixBus India has not provided further details in the supplied announcement on launch dates, schedules or ticket prices.
