The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) will operate around 700 special buses round-the-clock for 24 hours during Ganesh idol immersion festivities in Hyderabad, as authorities prepare for a major passenger surge and extensive traffic diversions across the city.
The special services will run from different parts of Hyderabad and connect areas around Hussain Sagar with various routes across the city. The arrangements are intended to keep public transport available as immersion activities affect road movement and continue until Saturday morning, according to TGSRTC officials.
To coordinate bus operations under the diversion plan, RTC officials and controllers have been deployed at 44 key locations. A dedicated control room has also been established at the zonal office to monitor passenger movement and track bus operations during the festivities.
TGSRTC has stationed relief vehicles at Old MLA Quarters, Indira Park and V.V. Statue to provide emergency assistance. Special RTC camps have been arranged at Khairatabad, Lakdi-ka-pul, Koti, Basheerbagh, Indira Park and AIR, giving the transport system fixed operational points near important movement corridors.
The corporation has also arranged additional staff to respond to vehicle breakdowns. A total of 113 drivers and 87 mechanics will remain available at police stations and other strategic locations for emergency repairs and operational support.
City and interstate bus services, including those operated by APSRTC and KSRTC, will be diverted in line with instructions from the traffic police. This means regular routes may change as vehicles are moved away from roads affected by immersion-related restrictions.
The transport arrangements place particular emphasis on maintaining links to the Hussain Sagar area, where large-scale immersion activity can alter traffic flows and increase demand for buses. The deployment of controllers, relief vehicles and repair teams is intended to allow services to continue despite changing road access and congestion.
TGSRTC officials said alternative operational plans had been prepared to ensure uninterrupted public transport while immersion activities continue. The control room, field personnel, emergency vehicles and designated camps will oversee bus movement and passenger support during the 24-hour special-service period.
