A 22-year-old MBA student died after coming into contact with a live electric wire near a Ganesh pandal at a private hostel linked to ICFAI University in Hyderabad on Monday night, according to a report by Telangana Today.

The student, identified as Arya, was pursuing his first year of an MBA programme. The incident occurred within the limits of Mokila Police Station, where the pandal had been set up at the hostel premises.

According to the information reported, Arya accidentally came into contact with a live wire near the Ganesh mandapam and was electrocuted. He died at the spot.

Hostel and college staff informed his family members about the incident, the report said. The circumstances surrounding the placement of the wire and the electrical arrangements at the temporary religious structure have not been detailed in the available account.

Temporary public and community installations such as festival pandals involve electrical connections, lighting and visitor access within spaces that may not have been designed for large gatherings. In this case, the incident occurred at a private hostel, placing the focus on the safety arrangements within an institutional residential setting.

Mokila police are investigating the cause of the electrocution. Further details about the electrical installation, responsibility for the pandal and any action arising from the investigation were not available in the report.
