Hilton has signed an agreement to open a 360-room Hilton Garden Inn in Visakhapatnam’s Yendada area by 2032, marking the hospitality company’s entry into the Andhra Pradesh city’s expanding commercial landscape.
The hotel will be developed as part of WTC Visakhapatnam, a 10-acre mixed-use project by Kapil Group company BVM Energy and Residency Pvt Ltd. Hilton announced the signing on Tuesday in partnership with the project developer.
The World Trade Centre development is being positioned as a destination for business, collaboration and commercial activity. The planned hotel is expected to add an international hospitality brand to the project and provide accommodation within the mixed-use development once it opens.
Zubin Saxena, Senior Vice-President and Regional Head, South Asia, Hilton, said the company’s first Visakhapatnam hotel would strengthen its presence in one of Andhra Pradesh’s important commercial centres. He said the signing reflected Hilton’s confidence in the city’s long-term potential as a hospitality destination.
Clarence Tan, Hilton’s Senior Vice-President, Development, Asia Pacific, said the company was seeking to give customers more stay options in markets of growing significance. Hilton said the Visakhapatnam project would strengthen its upscale hospitality portfolio in India.
For the developer, the hotel is part of the wider plan for WTC Visakhapatnam to serve the city’s business ecosystem. Vaddanapu Krishnaiah, Managing Director of BVM Energy and Residency and Kapil Group, said Hilton would help shape the project’s vision of serving business and leisure travellers with a high-quality hospitality offering.
The announcement places the hotel within a longer urban development timeline. Its expected 2032 opening means that the project’s delivery, construction progress and eventual integration with the surrounding Yendada area will determine when the promised business and visitor infrastructure becomes operational.
Hilton currently has two other projects in its Andhra Pradesh pipeline. These include upcoming Hilton Garden Inn hotels in Tirupati and Mantralayam. The Visakhapatnam signing therefore expands the company’s planned presence across three locations in the state, while giving the city its first Hilton property.
The company and the developer have not disclosed further details in the announcement on the hotel’s construction schedule, investment value, employment generation, room rates or the specific facilities planned within the property. The next major milestone will be progress towards delivery of the WTC Visakhapatnam development and the hotel targeted to open in 2032.
