Gurugram Sector 104 Road Plan Clears Key Hurdle, 2,000 Families to Benefit

A 24-metre-wide road planned in Gurugram Sector 104 has moved closer to construction after the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) sent a land acquisition proposal to its headquarters, a move expected to improve access for around 2,000 families in the Zara Homes and Godrej Summit societies.

The proposal was prepared after a joint site inspection committee, headed by HSVP administrator Vaishali Singh, inspected the alignment of the proposed road. The road is also expected to improve connectivity for villages located near the two residential societies, according to a report by Live Hindustan – NCR.

At present, residents use a revenue path through Dhanwapur village to travel to and from the societies. The route is narrow and reportedly remains in poor condition. During the monsoon, the road experiences waterlogging of up to about one foot, creating difficulties for residents and other users. Congestion is also reported during the morning and evening peak periods because the existing access route cannot handle the movement efficiently.

The proposed road had reportedly been included in the approved sector plan, but had not been built on the ground. As a result, residents of the societies have continued to depend on the village route instead of a planned sector-level connection. Residents had been seeking construction of the road from the Department of Town and Country Planning for an extended period.

The land acquisition proposal covers approximately 2.96 acres in Gurgaon village and another 0.69 acres in Dhanwapur village. The proposal will now be examined by the HSVP headquarters as part of the process preceding acquisition and subsequent road construction.

The process began after an announcement by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, following which HSVP and the Department of Town and Country Planning initiated steps towards developing the connection. The latest proposal establishes the land requirement and the proposed alignment, but the report does not specify a final acquisition date, construction tender, project cost or completion deadline.

Godrej Summit resident Bajrang Jain said the 24-metre road was part of the approved sector plan but was not available at the site, forcing residents to use the village route. Zara Homes resident Abhishek Kumar said the absence of a main road had made daily travel difficult and that the planned connection could ease movement and reduce congestion.

The next formal steps are expected to involve scrutiny of the land acquisition proposal by HSVP headquarters, followed by the required acquisition and road construction procedures. Until those stages are completed, residents will continue to depend on the existing Dhanwapur revenue path.
