Three road accidents reported in different parts of Gurugram in recent days have left a 52-year-old worker and a 32-year-old woman dead, while a private bank employee suffered serious injuries. Police have registered cases in all three incidents and begun investigations.
The first fatality was reported on the KMP Expressway near the ICAT company, where an unidentified vehicle hit Rambeer, a 52-year-old worker, at around 7 pm on October 27. According to the report, Rambeer had finished work at a company in Moklawas and was waiting near the expressway for a lift to return home when the vehicle struck him. He died at the spot, and the driver fled from the scene.
Rambeer, originally from Shukratal village in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district, had moved to Manesar about six months earlier in search of employment. He worked as a driver at a company in the area and lived there. The IMT police station registered a case, completed the post-mortem procedure and handed the body over to his family, according to the report.
In another case, Geeta, 32, died after being hit by a motorcycle. Geeta, the wife of Santosh and a resident of Sector 62, sustained serious injuries in the crash. Police registered the case on Wednesday after the complaint and investigation indicated that the motorcycle was allegedly being driven at high speed and without due care.
The third incident left private bank employee Viniti Sondh seriously injured after a car hit the Uber bike on which she was travelling. She had booked the bike from her office to go home at around 2 pm on Tuesday. The collision occurred roughly 500 metres after she boarded the bike, when a car allegedly hit it from behind.
The impact threw Sondh onto the road. The report said she sustained serious injuries, including tissue damage, and lost function in her left hand and palm. After the crash, the car and bike drivers reportedly argued about whether the bike had moved aside after the car sounded its horn. DLF security guards called an ambulance, and Sondh was taken to a private hospital in Sector 24.
The car driver allegedly left the scene and did not come to the hospital. The DLF Phase 3 police station has registered a case and started an investigation, according to the investigating officer cited in the report. The three cases place attention on the risks faced by workers travelling along high-speed corridors, pedestrians and two-wheeler passengers on Gurugram’s roads. Further police action will depend on the investigations and identification of the drivers involved.
