Gurugram Demolishes Two Illegal RMC Plants in Pollution Drive

Gurugram Municipal Corporation demolished two illegal ready-mix concrete (RMC) plants in Daulatabad on Wednesday as part of an ongoing enforcement drive against construction-related dust and air pollution. The latest action takes the number of illegal RMC plants removed by the civic body to 10 over the past few days.

The demolition was carried out by a municipal team led by assistant engineer Hariprakash, according to Live Hindustan – NCR. The plants were operating illegally in the Daulatabad area and were targeted as part of the corporation’s wider campaign to enforce environmental rules and control pollution linked to the city’s extensive construction activity.

Municipal officials said RMC plants can contribute to dust emissions and deteriorating air quality when they operate without complying with applicable rules. Gurugram has experienced rapid construction activity across residential, commercial and infrastructure projects, increasing the need for monitoring of sites and facilities that handle construction materials.

The civic body said the enforcement action was conducted under the directions of municipal commissioner Pradeep Dahiya. The corporation has been carrying out inspections and action against illegal RMC plants as part of a special pollution-control campaign. Officials said the demolition of the two plants in Daulatabad formed part of the same operation through which 10 plants have now been removed.

The action is significant because RMC plants are closely connected to the construction supply chain. These facilities produce and dispatch concrete for building and infrastructure work, but unauthorised operations can raise questions about land-use permissions, environmental compliance and dust-control measures. The municipal campaign is therefore aimed not only at individual facilities but also at enforcing compliance within a fast-growing urban construction economy.

Dahiya said those violating environmental rules would not be spared and that monitoring and sealing operations would continue. The municipal commissioner directed teams to maintain surveillance and take action against illegal activities linked to pollution control. The corporation has not disclosed in the supplied report the specific permissions or regulatory violations attributed to each of the two demolished plants.

Municipal teams have removed 10 illegal RMC plants within two days, according to the report. The corporation said its monitoring and enforcement campaign would continue across Gurugram, with further inspections and sealing action planned against facilities found operating in violation of applicable rules.
