Gujarat CM reviews development at Dholera

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Monday reviewed key infrastructure projects underway at the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), which the state government aims to develop as India’s premier semiconductor manufacturing hub.

The CM’s visit focused on inspecting progress across multiple smart city and industrial initiatives forming the backbone of the ambitious ‘Dholera Semicon City’. Officials informed that 95% of the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway construction has been completed, significantly enhancing regional connectivity. Other major infrastructure projects — including roads, underground utilities, and plug-and-play facilities — have also reached advanced stages. World-class amenities like water and sewage treatment plants, a common effluent treatment facility, and ICT infrastructure are already in place. The site also hosts a fully functional 300 MW solar park, supporting sustainable energy needs for industrial units.

The Chief Minister also assessed ongoing social infrastructure projects such as the Bhimnath-Dholera freight railway line, a 192-bed hospital, a higher secondary school, a fire station, and investor residential complexes. Together, these initiatives are aimed at creating a self-sustaining, investor-ready industrial ecosystem. A key highlight of the visit was the review of the Tata Electronics semiconductor plant under construction in Dholera Semicon City. The CM met with Tata officials on-site to examine progress at the facility, which is considered a landmark investment in India’s drive for semiconductor self-reliance. He also inspected the Dholera International Airport project, which includes a cargo building, terminal, and runway being built at an estimated cost of ₹1,350 crore. “Dholera is poised to emerge as one of the most happening industrial clusters not just in Gujarat but in the entire country,” said Ambrish Parajiya, Managing Director of GAP Group. “With our world-class township project, we are ensuring that the supply of high-quality residential and commercial spaces in Dholera keeps pace with the industrial development.”

The Dholera Smart City project is being developed with futuristic infrastructure, guided by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has long championed the region as a model of next-generation urban and industrial growth.
