Greater Noida Residents Protest Over Ajnara Homes Entry Curbs

Residents of Ajnara Homes in Greater Noida West protested on Sunday after alleging that the society management had again restricted the entry of visitors, domestic workers, delivery personnel and repair workers, intensifying an ongoing dispute over maintenance and essential services.

Residents gathered at the main gate of the high-rise society in the Bisrakh police station area at around 6 pm and shut the entrance during the protest. The blockade led to long queues of vehicles and heightened tensions between flat owners and the maintenance management, according to a report by Navbharat Times.

The residents alleged that security guards were stopping maids, online delivery workers, electricians, carpenters, mechanics and other service providers at the gate and making them wait for extended periods. They said the restrictions affected routine household work and access to services relied on by residents in the large housing complex.

The protest also brought wider complaints about the society’s maintenance. Residents said they had faced a shortage of clean drinking water, irregular maintenance and repeated lift failures for the past two to three months. They alleged that water tanks were not being cleaned on time, lifts had stopped between floors and children and elderly residents had recently been trapped inside them. They also said door-to-door waste collection had deteriorated.

According to the report, several flat owners had stopped paying maintenance charges because of the unresolved problems. Residents alleged that the management was attempting to pressure them by restricting essential services and the entry of people working in their homes. Their central question was why maintenance charges should be paid when basic services were not being delivered, and why access restrictions were being used in response to the dispute.

The confrontation continued for several hours before the management changed its position, after which efforts were made to restore the entry of workers and delivery personnel, the report said. The account does not provide details of a written order, formal notice or independent inspection confirming the alleged service failures or entry restrictions.

The dispute reflects a recurring governance problem in privately managed high-rise housing: residents depend on a management system for water, lifts, waste collection and security, while access controls can directly affect domestic work, deliveries and emergency maintenance. In such societies, disagreements over maintenance payments can quickly become operational disputes affecting people beyond the residents and the management company.

Residents are now demanding that the existing maintenance team be removed and that responsibility be transferred to the apartment owners’ association, or AOA. They have also sought strict legal action by the Greater Noida authority against the builder. The report did not specify whether the authority has opened an inquiry or whether any formal action has been initiated.
