Bengaluru-based electric mobility startup E3 Electric.Ai has begun production of its E3 Trion electric scooter at its Hyderabad manufacturing facility, with customer deliveries scheduled to start in batches from October 7.
The company said the deliveries would coincide with its second anniversary. The first 100 buyers will form what E3 Electric.Ai calls its founding-owner community and will receive additional warranty and roadside assistance benefits.
The E3 Trion will be sold in three variants: the C1 for younger riders, the C1X for families and the C2 for business users. The scooter will be available in six colours — Nova Blue, Teal Blue, Graphite Grey, Misty Green, Solar Red and Luna White.
According to E3 Electric.Ai, the scooter underwent more than 550 Design Validation Plan tests before production began. These included power and range testing, brake-pressure sensor validation and other checks intended to assess the vehicle’s performance and reliability.
The company said the Trion also completed accelerated durability testing with a 205-kg payload. Its water-resistance testing included water-wading trials at depths between 100 mm and 300 mm, as well as heavy rainstorm and water-wash tests.
As part of road trials, the scooter completed a 260-km round trip between Bengaluru and Hogenakkal. The route included mountain roads, sharp bends, gradients and rough surfaces, according to the company. The testing is significant to the company’s positioning of the scooter for conditions commonly encountered on Indian roads, although the supplied announcement does not disclose certified range, charging time, top speed or production capacity.
E3 Electric.Ai Founder and CEO Sanjeev P said the company had focused on durability and testing under conditions representative of Indian roads before commencing production. The company has not disclosed the scooter’s retail prices in the supplied information.
The first 100 customers will receive an extended warranty covering the battery and key components for eight years or 1 lakh km, whichever comes earlier. They will also receive one year of roadside assistance through the company’s E3 Wingman programme.
E3 Electric.Ai values the complimentary package at Rs 6,500 for the C1, which uses a 2.3 kWh battery, and Rs 8,500 for the C1X and C2, which are equipped with 3 kWh batteries. The company said customer deliveries would begin in batches from October 7.
