South Western Railway has announced a one-trip Diwali special train service between Yeshwanthpur, coastal Karnataka and Madgaon to manage the expected festival-season passenger rush. The service will operate as two special Express journeys on November 6 and 8, according to a railway release reported by Prajavani.
Train 06591 will leave Yeshwanthpur at 11.55pm on November 6 and reach Madgaon at 6.10pm the following day. The return service, Train 06592, will depart Madgaon at 11am on November 8 and arrive at Bengaluru Cantonment at 5.20am the next morning.
The trains will stop at Kunigal, Channarayapatna, Hassan, Sakleshpur, Subrahmanya Road, Kabakaputtur, Bantwal, Mangaluru Junction, Surathkal, Mulki, Udupi, Barkur, Kundapura, Byndoor, Bhatkal, Murdeshwar, Honnavar, Kumta, Gokarna Road, Ankola, Karwar and Canacona.
The service provides a direct festive travel option for passengers moving between Bengaluru, the coastal belt, northern Karnataka’s coastal rail corridor and Goa. The listed stops include major urban and regional railway points such as Hassan, Mangaluru, Udupi, Karwar and Madgaon, allowing passengers to access the service from several points along the route.
The 19-coach train will include air-conditioned, sleeper and general-class coaches. It will also have a luggage-cum-brake van and a coach reserved for passengers with disabilities, the railway announcement said.
During the return journey, Train 06592 will not stop at Yeshwanthpur. It will, however, stop at Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru, while the outbound service begins at Yeshwanthpur. Passengers using the return service will therefore need to account for the different Bengaluru terminal arrangements when planning their journeys.
The special service has been scheduled as a limited one-trip operation in each direction, with the outbound journey on November 6 and the return journey on November 8. South Western Railway’s announcement cited the need to handle increased passenger demand during Diwali as the reason for the temporary service.
