Diljit Dosanjh Delhi Concert Gets Police Clearance After Security Review

Delhi Police has granted permission for the Diljit Dosanjh Delhi concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30 after organisers submitted additional security, traffic and crowd-management plans, clearing the event to proceed as scheduled.

The decision reverses an earlier temporary withholding of permission for the New Delhi leg of Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour. BookMyShow Live confirmed that reports of the concert being cancelled were inaccurate and said the permission had been withheld, not revoked.

In a statement cited in the report, BookMyShow said Delhi Police had asked organisers to strengthen safety, traffic and crowd-management arrangements because of the festive season and the heightened security requirements associated with it. The organiser said it had held a meeting with the police, presented a detailed plan and assured full compliance with all security and traffic conditions.

The concert is scheduled to begin the India leg of Dosanjh’s Aura Tour. After Delhi, the tour is expected to travel to Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Chandigarh. The October 30 event will bring a large audience to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, making access control, movement around the venue and coordination with local commuters part of the operating plan.

Delhi Police had earlier declined the request to hold the event, citing specific threat-related inputs as well as security and law-and-order responsibilities during the ongoing festive season. In a letter dated October 21, DCP (South) Anant Mittal informed BookMyShow Live Private Limited director Anil Makhija that the request could not be approved at that stage.

The earlier decision had led to public and political criticism. AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the government of targeting artists who had spoken in support of protesting farmers and students. He also said the denial could strengthen Dosanjh’s popularity among young people. Those political allegations were not cited as a reason for the police decision, which was attributed to security inputs and festive-season law-and-order requirements.

The revised clearance places responsibility on the organisers to implement the additional measures presented during their discussions with the police. BookMyShow said it was working with Delhi Police to provide a safe experience for attendees while limiting disruption for local commuters.

For the stadium and surrounding roads, the event will require the arrangements submitted by the organisers to be followed during entry, movement and dispersal. The available information does not specify the number of attendees, the exact traffic diversions, parking arrangements or the additional security measures approved by the police.

The concert remains scheduled for October 30 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. BookMyShow Live said the event would go ahead as planned after permission was reconsidered and issued by Delhi Police.
