Diljit Dosanjh Delhi Concert Cleared After Safety Plan Revision

The Diljit Dosanjh Delhi concert scheduled for October 30 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium has received Delhi Police permission after organisers submitted additional security, traffic and crowd-management measures. The approval clears a key hurdle for the show, which will open the India leg of Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour.

Permission had initially been refused because of security and law-and-order concerns during the festive season. Delhi Police was managing deployments across the capital for festive arrangements, other public events and routine security duties, according to a letter issued by DCP (South) Anant Mittal in response to the organisers’ application dated October 14.

The police had also cited specific threat-related inputs while declining the request eight days before the concert. The original decision meant that the event could not proceed at the stadium without a revised security arrangement addressing the authorities’ concerns.

BookMyShow Live subsequently held discussions with Delhi Police and presented a detailed plan covering additional safety, traffic and crowd-management arrangements. Following those meetings, the police reconsidered the request and issued permission for the concert, according to a statement from the organiser reported by ANI.

“BookMyShow Live had a cordial meeting with Delhi Police, presented a detailed plan and has assured Delhi Police of full compliance with all security/traffic requirements,” the company said. It also clarified that reports describing the concert as cancelled were inaccurate, saying permission had been temporarily withheld and should not be confused with cancellation.

The approval places responsibility for implementing the revised arrangements on the organisers in coordination with Delhi Police. The measures are intended to manage the movement of concertgoers, traffic around Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and security operations during a period when police resources are already committed to festive-season duties.

The Delhi event is the first stop in the India leg of the Aura Tour. The tour is scheduled to continue with concerts in Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Lucknow before concluding in Chandigarh, where the date has not yet been announced.

The clearance follows challenges faced by Dosanjh’s previous India tour, Dil-Luminati, in 2024. His Hyderabad concert was preceded by a Telangana government advisory restricting songs promoting alcohol, drugs and violence, while his Indore show faced protests by Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad workers. In December 2024, Dosanjh said he would not perform live in India until concert infrastructure improved.

The October 30 show will now proceed under the security, traffic and crowd-management conditions agreed between BookMyShow Live and Delhi Police.
