The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched a digital parking system at eight key locations across the city.
The initiative aims to streamline parking operations, facilitate cashless payments, and enhance revenue transparency through the use of FASTag and digital platforms. Strategic areas identified for the rollout include Karol Bagh, Lajpat Nagar, Nehru Place (Outer and Inner Ring), Shastri Park, and Kashmere Gate ISBT. The project will enable seamless parking payments—FASTag for four-wheelers and UPI-based digital modes for two-wheelers—eliminating the need for cash transactions.
The digital system will also feature a centralised dashboard to monitor real-time data, ensuring transparency and operational accountability. In line with this, MCD has issued a tender to onboard a private agency responsible for deploying the necessary technology, managing daily operations, and overseeing revenue collection. This initiative is part of a larger effort by the civic body to digitise public services across Delhi and improve urban efficiency. It is expected to ease congestion in crowded commercial hubs, reduce manual intervention, and offer a more organised parking experience to residents and visitors.
By embracing digital tools, the MCD aims to set a precedent for tech-driven urban management and encourage wider adoption of contactless civic services in India’s capital.
