Traffic restrictions and diversions have come into force across several key roads in central Delhi as the BRICS Summit 2026 gets underway at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan on September 11. The Delhi Traffic Police advisory is in effect from 2pm to 8.30pm, with traffic to be regulated at 22 diversion points and restrictions expected on more than 35 roads.

The restrictions are intended to keep routes clear for the movement of summit delegates. Roads under regulation include Mathura Road, Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, Tees January Marg, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Subramaniam Bharti Marg, Moti Lal Nehru Marg, Dr Zakir Hussain Marg, Africa Avenue Road, Satya Marg, Shanti Path, Janpath, Ashoka Road, Barakhamba Road and Tolstoy Marg.
Other affected corridors include Ranjeet Singh Flyover, Niti Marg, Panchsheel Marg, K.G. Marg, PWD Abdul Kalam Road, Press Enclave Road, Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, Josef Broz Tito Marg and Lala Lajpat Rai Marg. Traffic officials have advised commuters to avoid the restricted corridors and plan their journeys in advance.
At Dinesh Nandini Dalmia Chowk, traffic moving towards Mathura Road and Tilak Marg will not be permitted beyond the junction. At Ram Charan Aggarwal Chowk, commercial vehicles will not be allowed to proceed towards W-Point beyond the junction.
Additional diversions have been arranged at Mir Dard Chowk, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Janpath, Patel Chowk, the RML Hospital roundabout and Vande Mataram Marg. Advance signage has been installed at key junctions, including ITO, warning motorists not to proceed beyond restricted points.
The traffic police expect the restrictions to have a limited effect on regular daytime movement because government offices and schools are shut for the day. However, commuters travelling through central Delhi and routes connected to Pragati Maidan have been urged to check their journeys before leaving and use public transport wherever possible.
The restrictions are scheduled to remain in force until 8.30pm on September 11, according to the traffic advisory. Traffic movement will be regulated at the identified diversion points during the summit-related movement of delegates.
