Delhi’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has flagged discrepancies in the enumeration forms of 33.13 lakh voters, including Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, according to the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer’s office. Notices have been issued to voters whose submitted details require clarification or validation.
The CEO office said Gupta’s entry had been identified in the list of logical discrepancies because of an age-related mismatch. Her details have since been validated, and her name will be included in the final electoral roll for the Shalimar Bagh constituency, scheduled for publication on November 4.
Kejriwal, who is registered as a voter in the New Delhi Assembly constituency, received a notice because his entry was described as “unmapped with last SIR”. His wife Sunita Kejriwal, his parents and his son have also received notices on the same ground, officials said.
The notices are part of a door-to-door verification exercise conducted across Delhi. Each voter was required to submit a completed enumeration form during the exercise, which ran from June 30 to August 17. The poll authorities are examining the details submitted in those forms against records from the previous Special Intensive Revision conducted in 2002.
According to the CEO office, 31.63 lakh of the 33.13 lakh voters whose names appeared in the draft rolls have so far received discrepancy notices. Most notices relate to missing records from the 2002 revision, while other cases involve inconsistencies in the information provided in the enumeration forms.
Several other prominent voters have also been issued notices. They include former Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal and BJP leader Sudhanshu Mittal. The notices do not, by themselves, establish that a voter is ineligible; they require the identified discrepancy to be addressed as part of the roll-revision process.
The exercise places the accuracy of historical electoral records at the centre of Delhi’s voter-list administration. The reference to the 2002 revision means that voters whose current details cannot be linked to earlier records may need to respond to the notices before the final rolls are prepared.
The CEO office has not indicated in the supplied statement how many of the notices have already been resolved, beyond confirming the validation of Gupta’s entry. The final electoral roll for the Shalimar Bagh constituency is scheduled to be published on November 4.
