The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) demolished 46 properties and sealed 11 others across all 12 zones on Wednesday as it intensified action against dangerous buildings and unauthorised construction following the Satya Niketan incident. The civic body also issued 12 demolition orders for violations of building norms and applicable regulations.
The action was carried out as part of an ongoing MCD campaign against structures that allegedly violate the Delhi Master Plan and building by-laws. The corporation said the enforcement drive is intended to ensure compliance with building standards and protect public safety.
The latest operation followed a wider drive on Tuesday, when the MCD demolished 40 properties and sealed 16 others for violations of the Master Plan and building by-laws. Taken together, the two days of action involved 86 demolitions and 27 sealed properties, according to the figures reported by Jagran.
The MCD said enforcement teams worked across all its 12 zones on Wednesday. Major demolition actions were reported in Kardampuri, Shahdara, Prasadi Mohalla and Usmanpur/New Usmanpur in the north-eastern zone. In the eastern zone, action was carried out in Shastri Park, while Swarup Nagar and Rani Bagh were among the locations mentioned in the central-northern zone.
The campaign covers dangerous buildings, unauthorised construction and other violations of the Delhi Master Plan and building regulations. An MCD official said unauthorised construction and violations of building standards would not be permitted within the corporation’s jurisdiction.
