CNG prices in Lucknow and four other Uttar Pradesh cities will rise from 6am on Sunday after Green Gas Limited announced a revision linked to higher procurement costs for regasified liquefied natural gas and increased winter demand.
In Lucknow and Agra, the price of compressed natural gas will increase by Re 1 per kg, from Rs 107 to Rs 108 per kg. The revised rates will apply to CNG-powered private vehicles, taxis, autorickshaws and commercial transport operators in the five cities served by the company.
Unnao will record the largest increase among the affected cities. Its CNG price will rise by Rs 2.25 per kg, from Rs 103.75 to Rs 106 per kg. In Ayodhya and Sultanpur, the rate will increase by Re 1 per kg, from Rs 105 to Rs 106 per kg.
The revision was announced by Green Gas Limited, which cited elevated procurement costs for RLNG as the reason for the increase. The company attributed the higher costs to seasonal demand spikes during winter and uncertainties in global gas supplies.
The new rates will affect a wide range of urban transport users. Private vehicle owners using CNG will pay more for each refuelling cycle, while taxi and autorickshaw operators will face a direct increase in operating expenses. Commercial transport operators in the five cities will also have to account for the revised fuel cost from Sunday morning.
The impact on operators will vary by city because the size of the increase is different. While Lucknow, Agra, Ayodhya and Sultanpur will see a Re 1 per kg rise, the Rs 2.25 per kg increase in Unnao represents the steepest revision in the latest announcement.
CNG pricing has a direct connection with the cost of urban mobility, particularly in cities where autorickshaws, taxis and other commercial vehicles depend on the fuel for daily operations. Any increase in fuel expenditure can affect the operating cost of trips, although the supplied report does not state whether transport fares will be revised.
The latest change also comes as winter demand and international supply conditions influence the cost of imported and regasified gas used in the supply chain. Green Gas Limited has linked the price revision to these procurement conditions rather than to a change in local transport policy.
The revised CNG prices will take effect at 6am on Sunday in Lucknow, Agra, Unnao, Ayodhya and Sultanpur. Green Gas Limited’s announced rates are Rs 108 per kg in Lucknow and Agra, Rs 106 per kg in Unnao, and Rs 106 per kg in Ayodhya and Sultanpur.
