A planned power shutdown across several Chennai neighbourhoods on July 23 will temporarily interrupt electricity supply as utility authorities undertake scheduled maintenance on the city’s distribution network. The outages, expected between 9 am and 2 pm, will affect residential communities, commercial establishments and public institutions across multiple localities, highlighting the continuing challenge of maintaining ageing urban infrastructure while meeting the demands of a rapidly expanding metropolitan population.

The maintenance programme spans a wide geographic area, including Kovilambakkam, Ramapuram, Mugalivakkam, Adyar, Pallavaram, Keelkattalai, Alandur, Perumpakkam, Mangadu and parts of Avadi. Electricity officials have indicated that supply will be restored earlier if repair and maintenance activities are completed before the scheduled timeframe.
